Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 18th June 2026

These terms apply to your use of follies-trust.org and to any order you place for a publication through our online shop. By using the site or placing an order, you agree to these terms. They should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

1. About us

The Follies Trust is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland (NIC101116) and a company limited by guarantee registered in Northern Ireland (NI060272). The Trust has no paid staff and is run by volunteer trustees. All proceeds from publication sales and donations go towards our charitable purpose of conserving and promoting awareness of Ireland’s follies and historic structures.

2. Ordering a publication

Our online shop lets you place an order for one of our publications by providing your name, delivery address, contact details, and any order notes. Placing an order is an offer to buy, which we may accept or decline.

No online payment is taken. We do not collect card or bank details through this website. After you submit an order, we will email you with instructions for paying the price shown by bank transfer or cheque. Your order is confirmed and dispatched once we have received and reconciled your payment. If we do not receive payment within a reasonable period, we may cancel the order without further notice.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling or euro as displayed at checkout and include any postage stated. We make reasonable efforts to ensure prices and stock availability are accurate, but we may need to contact you if a publication you have ordered is out of stock or if a price was shown incorrectly, in which case you may cancel your order for a full refund of any payment already made.

3. Cancellations and returns

You may cancel an order at any time before payment has been made, by emailing us at [email protected]. If you have already paid and wish to cancel, contact us and we will arrange a refund. If a publication arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, contact us within a reasonable time and we will arrange a replacement or refund.

4. Donations

Donations made by bank transfer or cheque, including those accompanied by a Gift Aid declaration, are governed by the information provided on our Donate page at the time of your donation rather than by these shop terms. Donations are not refundable except in cases of genuine error, which should be reported to us promptly.

5. Acceptable use of the website

You agree not to use this website in any way that is unlawful, that could damage, disable, or impair the site, or that infringes the rights of others — including by submitting abusive, defamatory, or unlawful content through our enquiry form or comments.

6. Intellectual property

The text, images, and publications on this website, and the publications we sell, are the property of the Follies Trust or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our publications or website content without our prior written permission, except for your own personal, non-commercial use.

7. Liability

We provide this website and our publications in good faith and take reasonable care over their accuracy, but we do not guarantee that the website will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the website except where that loss is caused by our negligence or breach of these terms, or where liability cannot be excluded by law. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Northern Ireland.

9. Contact

Questions about an order, a donation, or these terms can be sent to [email protected], or by post to The Follies Trust, c/o the Honorary Treasurer, 105 Somerset Studios, BELFAST BT7 1RP .

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated terms.
